I first saw FeXY around 3 years ago when I first moved her and started running on the W&OD trail. Every Saturday I would see this group of riders’ fly passed me in Red and White. Before that I had just gotten into running the previous year (2015) to be healthy for my family and because I was putting back on the weight I had lost while in the Army I was gaining back.  I was just getting into running at the time and thought man those guys and gals were fast and kept trying to read the shirt and see who the group was. I have always been a swimmer and loved my bike. I began to hate just running and training for half and full marathons so naturally triathlon seemed like the next big adventure. Once I got into the sport I was hooked. I enjoy the training and the racing more than any of the other events I have done from Spartan race to Ragnar.

I love how complex the sport of triathlon is. You take 3 different sports and combine them all. Each sport is technical in its own right and then of you have mix them. I love the longer distance triathlons because of the mental and physical endurance you have to have at the longer distances. If you go out to hard on the bike you destroy yourself for the run. Triathlon requires balance and mental fortitude across 3 different sports (not even talking nutrition). This is why I love the sport of triathlon.

If I have to have one thing I hate about the sport it would be the cost.  Races and gear cost way more than any most if not all the other sports I have done.

I have only done three triathlons’ so far but favorite race would be Chattanooga 70.3. The bike course is beautiful and a lot faster than people would think. After that most likely my favorite race would be any of the Ragnar trial races, Rock and Roll Nashville full marathon or the Rock and Roll VA beach mile in the sand cause my family did this one with me.

Note pushing a running stroller a mile in the sand with a 1-year-old not the brightest idea I have had and definitely the hardest mile I have ever done.

This year my race calendar consists of Rumpus in Bumpass. Chattanooga 70.3, General Smallwood, Colonial Beach, and Waterman 70.3. I hope to do a full Ironman either next year or in the near future depending on life and training.
